Laura Wilkison
Senior Consultant
Laura Wilkison holds a Masters in Public Services Management
from DePaul University and has been active in legislative strategy formulation
for transportation and other issues since 1996. Laura joined Metro Strategies as
Vice-President in January 2006. Previous experience includes working for the
Chicago Department of Transportation as the Project Coordinator for Legislation
and Policy. In this capacity she formulated federal and state legislative
strategies that culminated in the City receiving hundreds of millions of dollars
in project funding. She was passionate about her role as the City of Chicago’s
Project Manager for the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation
Efficiency (CREATE) Program, a $1.5 billion rail infrastructure program. She
served as the Chair of the CREATE Advocacy Committee. Laura served on the
Chicago Area Transportation Study’s Public Involvement Committee for 5 years.
Laura continues to focus on transportation safety issues as
they affect our region. She facilitates a statewide committee to address
impaired driving through the Illinois judicial system. She also works with the
City of Chicago on rail grade crossing issues.
Laura spent five years as congressional staff providing
community outreach services for Congresswoman Karen McCarthy, 5th District of
Missouri. She assisted the DNC with the 1996 elections and interned for Senator
Carol Moseley-Braun.
